When one turns his eyes towards the collective physical existence embodied in the flawless cosmos and ponders, he is convinced that human being is part of an elaborate grand plan, despite it being a jungle of complexities. The environment of this planet, its vicinity, and the whole of the universe function as one cohesive unit, which is governed by a well settled set of unfaltering rules and laws.
These rules and laws in fact govern different kinds of energies, forces and of course ‘time’ in relation to physical matter present, which in turn are correlated with all the living beings, including humans. Besides, the inherent governing principle in Nature is –balance— without which the said relationship between matter and energies etc. could not have been made possible. It is the ‘balance principle’ which ensures ecological balance in Nature; it is this principle which lets humans to remain mentally and physically healthy, provided they follow certain rules for maintaining harmony with nature and the environment.
When somebody, by mistake or due to ignorance, tries to defy the inherent balance of natural laws, the result is bound to be disastrous.
Vastu Shastra or the like disciplines can boast to have come-up during the process of development of various sciences in antiquity, but in the present context these subjects can also be studied as branches of Environmental and Natural sciences; and, it would be sheer naivety and ignorance to discard these subjects as being superstitious.
Vastu Shastra tries to ensure the correlation between the living being and environmental energies, forces and ‘time’ for the benefit of humans. This relationship may be achieved and served by constructing proper building structures, based on some principles devised in this behalf and which conform to the rules of Nature.
The principles of Vastu Shastra etc. are not of talismanic origin. In some later stages though, a few mythological paradigms and myths were added due to which on its face value the rational minds were inclined not to accept this science and declared it being superstitious. Due to such mythological juxtapositions, many myths have grown, which has given opportunity to some to attack it. Nowadays some people even practice it in that modified way.
The energy concept in environmental sciences is not new. About 4000 years ago the Chinese masters like Fu Hsi etc. had formulated rules concerning selection of sites and building structures there according to the movement of energy (Chi). In Egypt, Pyramids were constructed strictly following the rules devised on the movement of environmental energies. West Asian domes and conical shapes given to churches etc. were made to protect the inhabitants from mesotrons, the anti-matter particles.
